Dennis Nordman is a pinball machine designer currently working for Stern Pinball.
[edit] Career
Nordman joined Bally as a cabinet designer after showing them his futuristic, fiberglass cabinet design, the result of a college industrial design project. He first designed games for Bally in the late 1980's, starting with Special Force in 1986. He would then move to Williams (when Bally was sold to Williams) to design 1989's Elvira and the Party Monsters.
At Williams, Nordman's interest in dirt biking/motor cross was revived with the help of Mark and Steve Ritchie. While riding with Mark and Steve one day, Nordman missed a turn at 60mph and broke his neck, right collar bone, a bone in his hand, and three ribs.[1] Recovery took him away from the final stages of Elvira, which Jim Patla and Steve Ritchie reportedly helped with.[2]
In 1996, Nordman was unexpectedly laid off during the rounds of layoffs Williams was conducting. For some time he designed mechanical bonus systems for slot machines at IGT, as well as redemption games.[3]
In 2005 Nordman would return to pinball at Stern, where his first game would be Pirates of the Caribbean. He is presently rumored to be working on Wheel of Fortune.
Dennis appeared on TOPcast episode 36 on May 23, 2007.
